Recently it has been reported that some customers have received fraudulent emails that appear to be from AFB – Arab Financial Brokers. These emails typically ask the recipient to click on a link to log-in to an account with the members area credentials.

Data protection and privacy are of utmost importance to AFB and we are taking all possible steps to protect our customers from these types of online fraud attacks and phishing scams.

How You Can Recognize Phishing Scams or Online Fraud

There are a few clues that can help our customers to identify fraudulent e-mail messages (also called phishing scams)

What does a phishing e-mail look like?

Phishing e-mails are intended to steal your personal data like credit cards, or members area information. The email will typically prompt you for personal data or direct you to a website to log into your account.

  • Emails might appear to come from AFB Domain. Even the email address might appear to be from a afb.com.kw address.

  • Emails might appear to be from someone you know.

  • They might include official-looking AFB logos and other information taken directly from afb.com.kw. Phishing emails might include convincing details about your personal information that the fraudster found on your social networking pages.

  • They might include links to spoofed websites where you are asked to provide your account login details. The spoofed website might look similar to a website from Arab Financial Brokers.

What You can do to Protect Yourself from Online Fraud

  • Be suspicious of any email that asks for personal information or asks you to update your account details.

  • Before clicking on a link in the email, verify that the website address displayed matches the actual link and is not a "masked" website.

  • Ensure that your browser has opened a genuine afb.com.kw website address. Online fraudsters often use web addresses that closely resemble the name of a well-known company but are slightly altered by adding, omitting or transposing letters.

** AFB will never send you an email asking you about your login and your password.
